Abstract

Researchers and practicing managers interested in the field of strategic management recently have given attention to the types of managers given responsibility for implementing chosen strategies. This interest in matching managers with strategies has resulted in the development of a number of models that describe those managerial characteristics (i.e., personality traits, skills, behaviors) that might be best suited for certain strategies. Some of the limitations of these models are discussed, and a suggested framework for future research is offered.
