[As announced in our January issue, we intend, from time to time, to publish an occasional series of bibliographies and course outlines in the 'Science and Society' area. Our intention is that these lists and syllabi should represent the fruits of several years' teaching experience, and that the published materials should be of proved quality and usefulness. The first such list arises out of a course designed for undergraduates studying physical sciences at the University of Sussex and is compiled by Brian Easlea. Readers are invited to submit further such bibliographies for our consideration.]
