What is the predictive accuracy and clinical impact of prognostic models for estimating the risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting?
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review to evaluate the predictive accuracy and clinical impact of prognostic models for postoperative nausea and vomiting.
Protocol for Cochrane PONV model review signals forthcoming synthesis; currently leaves predictive accuracy and clinical impact unresolved.
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Prognosis). The objectives are as follows: Identify all prognostic models developed for estimating the risk of PONV. Describe the characteristics (e.g. included predictive factors, apparent predictive accuracy in the developmental data set) of prognostic models. Appraise the predictive accuracy (external validation, including discrimination and calibration) of these models. Report and, if possible, meta‐analyse the performance of models, particularly those that have been validated in external populations. Identify impact assessments of PONV prediction models that have been performed. Appraise and make recommendations for PONV prediction models that may be useful for patient care.

Pace et al. (2014) conducted a systematic review in Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). PONV prediction models was evaluated on Predictive accuracy (discrimination and calibration) of PONV prognostic models. This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review aiming to identify, appraise, and meta-analyse prognostic models for estimating the risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting.
