Demonstrates improved power quality in distribution networks with renewable energy sources, highlighting effective compensation methods.
Day by day increment in electrical energy increases the need for renewable energy sources along with conventional fossil fuel-based energy. Therefore, in so many cases individuals are preparing their own RES harvesting equipment as small-scale projects. But in this approach, the effectiveness is not that significant for the entire population. That is why in recent days the implementation of RES-based generation units is becoming very common in the main distribution network so that the demand can be fulfilled as well as the environmental sustainability can be maintained. At the same time, such types of implementations have the worst effects on the PQ in terms of reactive power increment and the presence of harmonics. Therefore, it is becoming essential to compensate for those uncertainties otherwise the equipment that will be connected to the distribution network will not work properly. The variation of loads, variation in the generation due to sunlight irradiance change, wind speed changes the electrical quantities like current, voltage, and frequency are becoming distorted, these are the things named as PQ indices. Here in this paper, we are researching the successful implementation of RES generating stations and power injection to the mainline without creating any disturbance. For that, the usage of a shunt active power filter plays an important role. Using shunt active power filters and different controlling strategies the line power qualities are now improved a lot. Based on this concept all the technicality and research data are presented in this paper for better understanding.
