Evaluation of a meta‐cognitive strategy to improve the information gained from a stroke information pack

Abstract This study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of a meta‐cognitive strategy for processing information about stroke. Three groups of subjects who had recently suffered a stroke received either no information, an information booklet or an information booklet with instructions to monitor comprehension. Subjects receiving an information pack coupled with the meta‐cognitive strategy recalled significantly more information than the other groups. There were not differences on subjective measures such as consumer satisfaction.
