SUMMARY Memory for the journey to the operating theatre or intravenous induction of anaesthesia is little impaired by commonly used premedicants. Some anterograde amnesia follows the administration of hyoscine 0.4mg and opiate‐diazepam mixtures, while this occurs in about one‐quarter of the patients given diazepam‐hyoscine.
