The worst-hit areas were the union councils of Kuch, Kawas, and Zandra districts of Ziarat, Pishin, and Harnai (see Figure 1). The epicenter of the earthquake was 70 km northeast of the provincial capital of Quetta and 25 km east of Ziarat. The earthquake affected more than 120,000 people. One hundred sixty-four people lost their lives and 173 people were injured. The majority of building stock in the area consists of mud/adobe houses...
