The amount of research is too great to review effectively in the space allotted; consequently no effort was made to consider all papers in the period assigned. I have, therefore, confined myself to three aspects of acclimatization to heat the mechanisms, the role of physical conditioning, and certain practical aspects; three aspects of physiological responses to exercise in heat-the central circula tory and body fluid shifts, capacitance vessels, and core temperature; and three aspects of temperature regulation-the statistical evaluation of the effects on sweating and heat conductance of the input signals from Teore, r., and other thermal sources, the use of Bullard's resistance hygrometer in holding local skin temperature, Tal, constant while varying other inputs and vice-versa, and the influence of modeling upon our concepts of temperature regulation.
