Shows improved catalytic activity in nanorods, suggesting efficient metal interactions.
Noble metal doping and electronic metal–support interactions (EMSI) enhance non‐noble nanocatalysts. We report Co nanorods decorated with Au nanoparticles, immobilized in Fe 3 O 4 @CeO 2 (Fe 3 O 4 @CeO 2 /CoAu). The Co 98 Au 2 catalyst shows excellent activity in Suzuki–Miyaura and Stille coupling, attributed to enhanced EMSI between Au, Co, and the support matrix. Doping with noble metal and regulating the electronic metal‐support interactions (EMSI) have been proven strategies for efficiently controlling the catalytic activity of non‐noble metal‐based nanocatalysts. Herein, we present a facile strategy to prepare catalytically active Co nanorods (Co NRs) dotted with Au nanoparticles (Au NPs), followed by immobilization in Fe 3 O 4 cores and CeO 2 shells (Fe 3 O 4 @CeO 2 /CoAu). The incorporated Co 98 Au 2 NPs on Fe 3 O 4 @CeO 2 is found to be an excellent catalyst for Suzuki‐Miyaura and Stille cross‐coupling reactions, and the enhanced activity of the catalyst is attributed to the electronic metal‐support interaction (EMSI) of Au, when incorporated with Co on Fe 3 O 4 @CeO 2 matrix.
