This analysis demonstrates the significance of bibliographic indexes in preserving scientific legacy and enhancing academic research.
The article is dedicated to analyzing the role of bibliographic indexes in the systematization and preservation of the scientific legacy of professors and leading scholars, as well as their significance for the academic community. The research aims to identify approaches to the collection, classification, and organization of scientific works, as well as to assess their importance. The authors examine the main stages of compiling indexes and highlight key issues that arise during the process. The significance and practical application of these publications in academic research, education, and the promotion of scientific achievements are emphasized. By using the example of bibliographic indexes prepared for the anniversaries of professors, their contribution to the continuity of knowledge and interdisciplinary cooperation is demonstrated. The authors, drawing on their accumulated experience in compiling bibliographic works, arrive at theoretical and practical conclusions. The methodology of the research is based on analyzing the practical experience of the authors in creating bibliographic indexes. Methods employed include systematization and classification (chronological, alphabetical approaches, grouping by types of publications and areas of activity), bibliographic analysis (collection of archival data, personal contacts), comparative analysis (comparison of the structure and content of indexes from different years), and generalization of practical results and identified problems. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the detailed analysis of real experience in compiling modern bibliographic indexes of professors, going beyond theoretical bibliographic standards and general overviews. Specific examples of bibliographic indexes prepared for the anniversaries of professors (G.S. Dorzhieva and T.Yu. Zagryazkina) illustrate the evolution of index structures, demonstrating the effectiveness of a combined structure (chronology, themes, areas of activity). The authors reach the following conclusions: 1) a bibliographic index is an indispensable tool for preserving heritage, ensuring continuity, and analyzing scientific dynamics; 2) compiling an index is a creative task for students that strengthens scientific traditions; 3) the most effective structure integrates bibliography with data on pedagogical, editorial, and scientific-organizational activities; 4) close contact between compilers and the scholar is necessary for accuracy and completeness of data. The practical significance is confirmed by the successful application of the developed approaches in the academic environment.
