Abstract

Digital transformation in the construction sector is critical for enhancing project planning, execution, and performance. This study investigates the integrated application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Primavera P6 to improve scheduling accuracy, coordination efficiency, and cost control. A comparative case study approach was adopted using a public housing project in India. Delay recovery was quantified by comparing baseline delayed schedules with BIM-optimized schedules at the activity level, while cost savings were computed using delay-induced cost differentials and optimized execution costs. The baseline schedule indicated a planned duration of 971 days with a potential delay of 151 days. Following BIM integration, a total of 217 days were recovered, representing a 22.35% reduction in project duration and 143.7% recovery of delay impact. Cost analysis using a consistent baseline–delay–optimized framework demonstrated a total saving of ₹9.12 crore (25.83%). The findings confirm that BIM–Primavera integration significantly enhances schedule reliability and cost control; however, further multi-project validation is required.
