The article provides an overview of the development of tourism in Antarctica, visitor activity, and the impacts of sea, air, and land-based tourism. The article indicates that a number of management options are available but the legal and policy dimensions surround ing Antarctica demand the establishment of an international Antarctic tourism convention.
