Following a summary of the history of braille, there follows a review of previous research on braille reading. All of this will be new and interesting material for most ophthalmologists whose professional concern usually ends where braille begins. The remainder of the book is devoted to a study of the mechanics of braille teaching, its effect upon and the reaction of blind children to it. I know of no other modern exposition on this subject.
