Introduction. Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being used to develop programs and applications capable of developing learners' foreign language pronunciation skills. However, the effectiveness of their application in practice depends on how and to what extent learners' language practice with AI tools is integrated into the foreign language teaching process. The aim of the study is to develop a step-by-step method of developing learners' foreign language pronunciation skills on the basis of their practice with AI tools. Materials and Methods. The experimental study involved 1st year students of Derzhavin Tambov State University (Russian Federation), majoring in English as a Foreign Language. Students of the control group (N=24) were taught English phonetics on the basis of the traditional method in foreign language classes, and students of the experimental group (N=24) according to the method integrating extracurricular practice with the AI tool into the traditional method of developing pronunciation skills. The objects of control were 22 pronunciation skills. The data analysis was carried out using the Student’s t-test. KEYWORDS Results. The method of the development of pronunciation skills based on extracurricular students’ practice with the AI tool proved to be effective in developing the following skills: pronunciation of mixed vowel sounds (t=1.81 at p ≤ 0.05), slit consonant sounds (t=2.14 at p ≤ 0.05), interdental consonant sounds (t=1.81 at p ≤ 0.05), alveolar consonant sounds (t=2.14 at p ≤ 0.05); lateral plosion (t=1.81 at p ≤ 0.05), nasal plosion (t=1.81 at p ≤ 0.05) and loss of plosion (t=1.81 at p ≤ 0.05) sound combinations; intonation: sentences with rising tone (t=2.46 at p ≤ 0.05) and sentences with descending and rising tone (t=2.14 at p ≤ 0.05). The experiment did not prove the effectiveness of the method in developing such skills as pronunciation of bilabial sounds, diphthongs, pronunciation of sentences with flat and descending tone because these skills were developed by students prior to their participation in the experiment. Conclusion. The novelty of the study includes the development of a step-by-step method of developing students' pronunciation skills on the basis of practice with the AI tool.
