Vibrational heating is often troublesome at temperatures ≲0.1 K. This heating can be reduced by clamping samples rigidly. Measurements indicate that clamped joints to dielectric materials can be designed to have thermal impedances ranging from a minimum, determined by the thermal boundary resistance, to values that are a factor of ≊104 larger.
