Resonance due to standing spin waves has been observed in thin films of Permalloy. The results are interpreted in terms of the Kittel spin pinning boundary condition and an ω vs k dispersion relation for good conductors. The method leads to a determination of the exchange constant subject to film thickness uncertainty but to a precise determination of the temperature variation of the exchange constant.
