Tourism drives global economic growth, cultural exchange and regional development. This study examines the effectiveness of tourism police in enhancing sustainable tourism, focusing on security concerns, public perceptions and security initiatives. It explores how tourism police reduce risks such as crime and terrorism, foster a safe environment and assesses whether their presence instills confidence or anxiety among tourists. Using a mixed-method approach including case studies, surveys and interviews, the research found that 78.6 % of respondents were aware of tourism police, but only 29.7 % reported frequent encounters. Increased patrols, technological advances (CCTV, emergency apps) and partner collaboration significantly increase tourist satisfaction and safety. Effective law enforcement reinforces perceptions of safety, encourages repeat visits and the sustainability of destinations. The study highlights the need for improved training, infrastructure and multi-stakeholder partnerships to ensure a safe, welcoming and sustainable tourism environment, particularly in Bangladesh.
