A new simulation model for the contractile element of cardiac muscle closely mimics the mechanical behavior of a single muscle twitch during isometric and isotonic relaxation phases.
A new simulation model for the contractile element of cardiac muscle closely mimics the mechanical behavior of a single muscle twitch during relaxation.
May refine computational models of cardiac relaxation; leaves open translation to human myocardium or clinical relevance.
In this study, a new model for the contractile element of Hill's three element model of cardiac muscle is investigated, for isometric and isotonic phases of relaxation of isotonic twitches, using physiological experiments of Brusaert et al. on cat papillary muscle. Simulation results show that the proposed model, very closely "mimics " the mechanical behaviour of a single muscle twitch.
