Review highlights sulfur's role in synthesizing biologically important compounds, suggesting significant chemical advancements.
The recent development of convenient methods for utilizing elemental sulfur, that is, S 8 , has garnered significant attention because it enables the synthesis of several potential heterocyclic or organic compounds of high biological importance. This review article is focused on the dual role of sulfur as a substrate and a catalyst for the development of the synthesis of various organosulfur compounds and their derivatives. The critical information on the efficient use of elemental sulfur in synthetic organic transformations will assist the chemists to create the further developments in organo‐sulfur chemistry.
