Is it feasible to use the Swan-Ganz right heart catheter for haemodynamic monitoring in patients with complicated acute myocardial infarction?
The study aimed to confirm the feasibility of using the Swan-Ganz right heart catheter for hemodynamic monitoring in patients with complicated acute myocardial infarction.
Thirteen patients with complicated acute myocardial infarction were studied in the coronary care unit to confirm the feasibility of using the Swan-Ganz right heart catheter to obtain pulmonary artery diastolic pressures, pulmonary arterial wedge pressures, and pulmonary artery blood samplesfor oxygen measurements. The aim of the study was to assess the haemodynamic changes after an acute myocardial infarction, the haemo- dynamic response to therapeutic interventions, and the diagnosis of a complicating ventricular septal defect.

Swan-Ganz right heart catheter was evaluated on Feasibility of obtaining pulmonary artery diastolic pressures, pulmonary arterial wedge pressures, and pulmonary artery blood samples for oxygen measurements.
