Monolithic carbon possessing hierarchical, multimodal porosity has been prepared by nano‐casting of monolithic, meso‐ and macroporous silica. The carbon monolith (right in Figure) is a positive replica of the silica monolith on the micrometer scale, but a negative replica on the nanometer scale. The diameter of the fully interconnected macropores can be varied between 0.5 and 30 μm and they co‐exist with mesopores with diameters of 4–5 nm.
