Analysis of the God Ash’s identity and existence in the Old Kingdom, highlighting his complexities.
Summary This article is a study of the god Ash, qualified only once as “Lord of Tjehenu”. His name and epithet are problematic: the former is similar to that of other divinities and has led to his identification with them; the latter has cast doubt on his origin. Through the analysis of the theonym and iconography of the deity, as well as his certain and dubious documentation, we seek to shed light on those and other problems, the most remarkable of them being that of the supposed survival of the god after the Old Kingdom.
