Evaluates sclerotherapy outcomes for aneurysmal bone cysts, suggesting effective treatment options.
Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a rare benign osteolytic tumor that predominantly affects children, adolescents, and young adults. Their pathophysiology is not fully understood, but genetic mutations have been identified in some cases. ABCs commonly present with pain, swelling, and potential functional impairment and may be associated with pathological fractures. Diagnostic imaging, including x-ray, MRI, and CT, plays a crucial role in the evaluation and diagnosis of ABCs. On imaging, a characteristic soap-bubble appearance and fluid-fluid levels may be present. Surgical resection, curettage with or without bone grafting, sclerotherapy, embolization, and radiation therapy are treatment options.
