This article discusses art teaching dynamics through elementary school visits to a university, highlighting implications for education.
In this article, we bring reflections on art teaching based on a set of visits by elementary school classes – final years to the visual arts studios of the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, carried out during the year 2023. The report includes an excerpt from the Pedagogical Residency Program – Arts Subproject of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education (CAPES) developed by UDESC in partnership with the Escola de Educação Básica Porto do Rio Tavares, part of the state basic education network of Santa Catarina. We first explain the visits of the classes to the workshops, pointing out their impacts on the teaching-learning processes in visual arts; Next, we address the relationships between school and university, in order to problematize some dichotomies in the training process of basic education and higher education students. Finally, we make our final considerations, reinforcing the need for research and extension actions based on the reported experience.
