Problems in the sphere of the national bibliography that partly lie in its relation to the national catalogue demand a review of the state that generated the question of whether it is possible to overlap data from these two sources and conflate them into one national bibliographic resource. The review of basic theoretical principles of both concepts and the historical framing of the problem genesis leads to an attempt to find optimal solutions in accordance with modern technological possibilities. It is done through consideration of the best bibliographical and cataloguing practices and the adjustment of international guidelines and standards to the national situation and needs.
