Networked monitors, which can be worn on the body or integrated into our homes, enable the collection of detailed data pertaining to our physical and mental health. Such data can result in a favorable transformation change in the healthcare sector when continually gathered, pooled, and skillfully mined. In specific, the data available at unimaginable scales and temporal longitudes combined with a new era of smart processing machine learning can: (a) assist a transformation in the medical profession from the existing post facto make the diagnosis reactive paradigm to an assertive structure for prognosis of illnesses at an initial stages, coupled with preventative measures, cure, and general administration of health rather than illness, (b) enable personalized experience of healthcare, and (c) improve the quality of life for all people In this study, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of IoT in achieving this future health care goal.
