Study enhances Suzuki–Miyaura coupling yields in aryl fluorosulfates, suggesting a greener approach.
Reported are relatively rapid Suzuki–Miyaura (SM) couplings carried out under aqueous micellar conditions on highly functionalized moderate to late-stage aryl fluorosulfates. These utilize an oxidative addition complex derived from the biaryl ligand SPhos leading to reduced reaction times and loadings of the Pd-containing catalyst, providing an environmentally responsible alternative to these C–C couplings typically run under traditional conditions. In addition, this new methodology reduces the environmental impact by also utilizing the non-PFAS fluorosulfates as coupling partners and surpasses processes in the literature from the purely synthetic perspective in terms of functional group tolerance, yields, and times required for valued SM couplings.
