Descriptive case series illustrates the diverse causes of adnexal masses, emphasizing multidisciplinary diagnostic approaches.
Aim and background: Adnexal masses represent a broad spectrum of conditions due to gynecological and nongynecological causes. They may be benign or malignant and develop in all age-groups.This is a descriptive study design and consists of a series of different clinical scenarios of adnexal masses that one might observe in day-to-day clinical practice.Case description: This case series consists of patients presenting primarily with an adnexal mass. However, on further evaluation, a diagnosis of metastatic hydatid disease, metastatic colorectal cancer, broad ligament fibroid, and disseminated tuberculosis was made. Conclusion:The workup for adnexal masses requires a multidisciplinary approach, wherein surgical, gynecological, and radiological inputs are critical due to the overlapping signs and symptoms.Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for preventing complications and improving patient outcomes.Clinical significance: These case series emphasize the importance of thorough clinical, laboratory, radiological, and pathological evaluations, as well as laparoscopy when necessary, in all cases to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
