Shows improved satisfaction and quality of life in parents of young children using Control-IQ+ technology, suggesting a significant advancement in diabetes management.
Introduction and Objective: The Tandem Mobi and t:slim X2 insulin pumps with Control-IQ+ technology are now FDA cleared for age 2 years old and above. We report on satisfaction and quality of life changes in parents of 2 to 5 year-old new users of Control-IQ+ technology in an ongoing prospective, real-world postmarket study (NCT06717451). Methods: We assessed patient reported outcomes from start of Control-IQ+ technology through 6 months of use in children <6 years of age. One hundred parents completed the Diabetes Impact and Satisfaction Scale (DIDS) and Hypoglycemia Fear Survey - Parent for Young Children (HFS-P-YC) at baseline and 6 months. Results: DIDS satisfaction and impact scores significantly improved after 6 months. HFS-P-YC behavior, worry and total scores also significantly improved (Table 1). These improvements were consistent for both Mobi and t:slim X2 users. Conclusion: Significant improvements in user satisfaction and quality of life, as well as significant reductions in hypoglycemia fear and hypoglycemia avoidance behaviors, were reported by parents of very young children after 6 months use of the Tandem Mobi and Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pumps with Control-IQ+ technology. By reducing hypoglycemia fear in early childhood, Control-IQ+ may remove a key barrier to optimal glycemic management by the caregiver, supporting long-term metabolic health while reducing caregiver burden.
