Retrospective analysis shows improved glycemic outcomes in Omnipod users after Discover enrollment, suggesting effective diabetes management enhancement.
Introduction and Objective: The Omnipod Discover data management system was developed to enhance Omnipod 5 user and HCP engagement with diabetes data, displaying an ambulatory glucose profile alongside time-of-day device settings and bolus frequency. This real-world analysis evaluated the association between Discover initiation and glycemic outcomes of current Omnipod 5 users. Methods: A retrospective analysis of CGM and insulin data from US Omnipod 5 users with T1D (≥2y) and T2D (≥18y) with ≥6months of Omnipod 5 use pre- and post-Omnipod Discover enrollment was conducted. Users with sufficient CGM data (≥14 days of CGM readings, ≥75% of days with ≥220 readings) in the last 30 days of pre- and post-enrollment periods and who engaged with Omnipod Discover ≥1 time post-enrollment were included. Glycemic outcomes were compared pre- and post-enrollment. Results: A total of 245 users (median age 31y; 34% aged 2-17y, 66% aged ≥18y) met inclusion criteria. Median TIR 70-180mg/dL increased by 1.8% [95% CI -1.4, 3.5] from 68.9% to 70.7%, with 32% of users experiencing a clinically meaningful increase of 3%. Those with baseline TIR <60% saw the greatest increase in TIR ranging from 1.4%-5.1% across groups (Fig A), while TBR <70mg/dL remained low across subjects (Fig B). Conclusion: The glycemic improvement observed following initiation of Omnipod Discover in current Omnipod 5 users supports the impact that enhanced data presentation may have in diabetes management.
