This paper examines the methodological foundations and implementation of Evolution, an open-source platform developed to support comprehensive travel surveys. The platform integrates multiple data collection modes, combining web-based and telephone/face-to-face interviews, while implementing systematic validation procedures and geographic awareness. A significant methodological contribution lies in its extensive paradata collection framework, enabling detailed analysis of response patterns and questionnaire effectiveness. Through case studies from recent large-scale mobility surveys in Quebec (Canada), this paper discusses the platform’s impact on data quality and response behaviors.
