Examines how Enterprise Resource Planning quality affects financial performance in South Asian firms, suggesting implications for success.
Enterprise resource planning systems have become an essential component of modern organizations by integrating financial, operational, and governance-related activities into a unified information platform that supports efficient decision-making and resource allocation. This study investigates the relationship between Enterprise Resource Planning implementation quality and corporate financial performance among firms operating in South Asia. Primary data were collected from 250 finance managers, accountants, chief financial officers, and senior executives representing organizations in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Enterprise Resource Planning implementation quality was evaluated through financial and governance modules, operational and supply chain modules, and human resource and payroll modules. Corporate financial performance was assessed using return on assets, market valuation, managerial decision quality, and financial reporting accuracy. The study also examined the moderating roles of organizational digital maturity, institutional quality, board independence, and firm size. The findings indicate that high-quality Enterprise Resource Planning implementation significantly enhances corporate financial performance and represents a major contributor to organizational success. The results further demonstrate that effective implementation improves accounting outcomes, market-based performance, managerial decision-making, and the accuracy of financial reporting. Among the moderating variables, institutional quality exhibits a limited strengthening influence on the relationship between Enterprise Resource Planning implementation quality and corporate financial performance, whereas organizational digital maturity, board independence, and firm size do not show statistically significant moderating effects. Reliability analysis confirms satisfactory levels of internal consistency across all study constructs. The study underscores the strategic importance of enterprise resource planning implementation quality in improving organizational performance within South Asian emerging economies. By providing evidence from a region that remains underrepresented in the existing literature, the findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how integrated information systems support financial and managerial outcomes. The study also offers practical insights for organizations, policymakers, and technology decision-makers seeking to enhance the value derived from enterprise resource planning investments and strengthen overall business performance in increasingly digitalized environments.
