This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview is Dr. Gurvinder Singh, a prominent journalist and scholar. Dr. Singh is the TV host of the show “Āwāz-e-Puṅjāb” – “Voice of Punjab” – which airs on Channel Punjabi and Global Punjab. He is also the former Editor-in-Chief of the International Punjabi Tribune weekly newspaper. This interview is divided into two segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Dr. Gurvinder Singh speaks about his career as a radio show host, awards received, the significance of Punjabi newspapers, and Punjabi’s presence in the schools of British Columbia. He also talks about challenges to Punjabi in Pakistan and India.
