This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Rajwant Singh Chilana, the subject of this interview, was born in Karnal, India. He holds M.Sc. (Zoology), M.Lib.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from prestigious Indian universities. Currently, he is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, USA. This interview is divided into three segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Dr. Chilana speaks about influences on his writing and his career as a librarian. He discusses his contributions to the Punjabi community through translation projects and involvement in developing the Punjabi curriculum in British Columbia.
