This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Malook Chand Kaler, was born in Sarhali, Jalandhar district, Punjab in 1954. He spent 31 years teaching Punjabi and history and served as a school principal during his career. Upon immigrating to Canada, Kaler developed a new passion for literature and writing. He has also worked in radio for a while. This interview is divided into two segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Malook Chand Kaler speaks about his career as a principal, his interest in writing, the importance of the Punjabi language, and provides details on the inspiration behind his books.
