This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Amarjit Chahal, was born in Singapore and received his early education in India before migrating to Canada in 1968 with his siblings and mother. Chahal has published two books, Oot and Bahro Aya Admi, and has written several other unpublished works. This interview with Amarjit Chahal is divided into three segments and includes three promotional videos. In the interview, Amarjit Chahal speaks about the struggles of working in the sawmill and as a taxi driver, his pursuit of writing, his books, and the Punjabi Writers Forum.
