Descriptive research examines AI readiness and skill awareness in youth, suggesting educational improvements are necessary.
The fast-growing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across industries is redefining employability and skill requirements for the future workforce. Youth, being primary stakeholders in the evolving employment market, must be adequately prepared to adapt to AI-driven economic changes. This study examines the level of AI readiness and future skill awareness among Goan youth and analyzes their influence on perceived employability in an AI-driven economy. Using a descriptive-analytical research design, primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 300 youth respondents aged 18–29 years across Goa. The study assesses key dimensions, including AI literacy, exposure to AI tools, awareness of future skills, learning orientation, attitude towards AI, and perceptions of employability. Statistical tools, including descriptive analysis and the PLS-SEM models, are proposed to examine relationships and demographic variations. The findings reveal moderate levels of AI awareness but significant gaps in practical readiness and future skill preparedness, particularly among rural youth and non-technical disciplines. It is also revealed that there is a moderate positive relationship between AI readiness, Future skill awareness, and Employment Perception. The study highlights the crucial role of education systems, skill development programs, and policy interventions in enhancing AI readiness and employability.
