Case report highlights incidental aberrant renal artery's impact on surgical planning in a patient with arterial disease, indicating careful imaging interpretation is crucial.
Aberrant renal arteries are rare anatomical variants with important clinical implications. We report the case of a middle-aged male who presented with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) in the right lower limb. Imaging revealed right superficial femoral artery occlusion along with an incidental finding of a prominent aberrant left renal artery originating from the left common iliac artery. Such a finding is rare and may have significant surgical, interventional, and diagnostic considerations. This report highlights the importance of recognizing vascular anomalies in imaging studies, even when incidental, to guide appropriate clinical decision-making, and in future surgeries in its vicinity.
