Paper XX: The Space-Time Distinction as Brane Orientation

The distinction between time and space is proposed to arise from the orien- tation of the 4D brane as it expands through the 5D AdS bulk. The brane's propagation direction through the bulk is identied as the time direction; the three directions tan- gent to the brane are spatial. The three imaginary units e1,e2,e3 of H+ are the three spatial dimensions; the real unit 1 of H+ is the time dimension. This is not a conven- tional arrow-of-time argument it is a geometric statement about which direction the brane is moving. The G2 symmetry axis of the parent octonion projects onto the sky as a preferred direction, explaining the CMB large-scale alignment anomalies (axis of evil, hemispherical power asymmetry) as the 2D projection of the G2 symmetry axis.
