Reports full neurological recovery post-excision of thoracic cavernous hemangioma, suggesting effective management strategies.
We report a rare case of a pure thoracic epidural cavernous hemangioma in a 70-year-old man presenting with chronic mid-dorsal pain and recent onset spastic paraparesis. Neurological examination revealed pyramidal signs with sensory impairment below T8. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a homogeneously enhancing posterior epidural lesion from T6 to T8 with significant spinal cord compression. The patient underwent T6 to T8 laminectomy and complete excision of a vascular extradural tumor. Postoperatively, the patient achieved full neurological recovery at 5-month follow-up. Early diagnosis and surgical excision result in excellent outcomes. We reviewed literature of extradural spinal cavernomas.
