With the growing population of elders unable to maintain driving with advanced age, there is a need for alternative transportation options to maintain active, routine connections to their communities. Public transportation providers, who are often least trained and knowledgeable about working with elders, will increasingly be providing transportation to this population. The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of aging and disability awareness training on knowledge of aging, ageism, and service provision by taxi drivers, as well training methods that are most effective. Pretests and posttests results and evaluations of the training revealed improved knowledge and effectiveness.
