This research aimed to understand patient perspectives on participating in inflammatory bowel disease research and the impact of the COVID pandemic.
Survey conducted from March 2022 to March 2023 among participants of the University of Manitoba IBD Research Registry.
Participants were asked about their views on IBD research participation during the pre-, peri-, and post-COVID periods.
Rank ordered reasons for participation and assessed willingness for five types of research.
Of 3018 invitees, 1105 (36.6%) completed the survey.

Post-COVID, 20%-30% reported decreased interest in research participation; 80% expressed willingness for observational research.
