Scoping review examines educational poverty in persons with disabilities in Ethiopia, highlighting significant challenges and gaps.
This scoping review examines educational poverty among persons with disabilities in Ethiopia, based on 30 studies published between 2010 and 2025. Using the PRISMA-ScR framework, systematic searches identified patterns of limited access, participation, and quality in education, especially for rural populations and those with intellectual, learning, or psychosocial disabilities. While research has increased since 2018, gaps remain in coverage and implementation. Despite supportive policies, challenges such as inadequate teacher training and infrastructure persist. Promising initiatives exist but are limited in scale. The review calls for targeted policy action, better resourcing, and further research to advance inclusive education for all learners.
