Innovative architecture enhances learning and decision-making in education, implying stronger cognitive engagement.
As generative AI permeates the educational landscape, a troubling paradox has emerged: toolsdesigned to democratize and enhance learning are also eroding students’ cognitive capabilities. Inthis paper, we identify six major failure modes of current AI usage in education and propose acomprehensive, sustainable, architectural pipeline to address them at the systems level. Thearchitecture integrates AI models with persistent session memory, syllabus-aligned verification, and verified human mentorship. Rather than replacing teachers, this framework is explicitlydesigned to help them in teaching. It helps by reducing cognitive load upon the person, surfacingthe high-value teaching opportunities, and enabling deeper engagement in mentorship andpedagogical decision-making. By embedding these safeguards directly into the system, it activelypushes students toward deeper thinking, catches most of the hallucinations before they land, maintains strict alignment with curricular standards of the teacher, and intelligently asks to humanmentors when the question demands real reasoning. This hybrid human-AI pipeline aims toresolve the capability tradeoff while ensuring that generative tools amplify students rather thanatrophy genuine learning.
