The subject of this study is the semantic content of the subconcept "kot chez l'habitant" (a type of Belgian student housing "kot," which implies cohabitation of the property owner and the tenant, who is a student) at various levels, belonging to the system of subconcepts that are part of the structure of the hyperonymic concept, the nominative word of which is the Belgianism "kot." The purpose of the study is to identify differences in the features of the representation of the value "personal autonomy," which is of great significance for the social category of students, within the framework of the subconcept "kot chez l'habitant" and the hyperonymic concept "kot." The relevance of the research topic is due to the need to study the structural features of linguistic and cultural concepts with ethno-specific content within the framework of national variants of the French language, as well as the axiological aspect of the functioning of these concepts. The methodological basis of the study includes conceptual modeling (description of the organization of the conceptual, figurative, and value levels, construction of a field model of the concept by highlighting its core and periphery) and semantic-cognitive analysis. The results of the study showed that the subconcept "kot chez l'habitant," at the level of individual content, includes semantics that represent the limitation of the autonomy of the student-tenant, while at the level of general categorical content, it retains semantics that describes the presence of autonomy, as in the case of the hyperonymic concept; it was concluded that the combination of the individual content of the subconcept "kot chez l'habitant," which is opposite to the content of the hyperonymic concept with general categorical semantic content coinciding with the semantics of the hyperonymic concept "kot," allows for describing the prototypical content of the concept using non-prototypical elements, which is a function of this subconcept within the framework of hyperonymic concepts, while the functions of the subconcept at the level of the conceptosphere coincide with the functions of the hyperonymic concept. The results of the study can be used in lexicographic practice, in the practice of teaching lexicology of the French language, as well as in further research in the field of cognitive linguistics. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the structure of the ethno-specific Belgian concept "kot" is examined for the first time in an axiological aspect, taking into account the peculiarities of categorization and structuring of reality.
