Proposed method maintains gain and beamwidth in antenna arrays, suggesting improved performance across configurations.
This paper proposed a method for maintaining scan-angle-dependent gain and beamwidth using a binary phase taper. In the proposed structure, the antenna tapering values required to compensate for scan-dependent losses are analytically formulated, and the resulting performance is both predicted and verified. Using the derived expressions, it is confirmed that constant gain and beamwidth can be maintained not only for linear arrays but also for planar arrays by appropriately adjusting the excitation coefficients of elements.
