Textual analysis reveals inaccuracies in naming drum instruments in archaeological findings, suggesting revisions.
In the Archaeological Report on the Tomb of Zhao Tingyin of Later Shu published in 2024, 11 drum instruments were recorded, but the basis for naming the instruments was not explained. According to the historical documents and archaeological data, the two instruments named Jie Drum in this report are misjudged, and the four instruments named DuTan Drum, Zheng Drum, He Drum and Da Drum, are inaccurate. By analyzing the details of the shape of musical instruments and the playing postures of musical figurines, and the records of the spread and evolution of musical instruments, we can make a more accurate judgment on the naming of these musical instruments. On this basis, we can explain the characteristics of the combination mode of musical instruments.
