Evaluates carbon reduction in interior decoration using a BIM framework, implying significant sustainability benefits.
To address high carbon emissions and the lack of systematic assessment methods in interior decoration, this study develops a BIM-based full life-cycle analysis framework for precise carbon quantification and mitigation. The model integrates low-carbon assessment across six phases: design, material production, transportation, construction, operation and maintenance, and demolition and recycling -enabling dynamic simulation and optimisation of material selection, construction processes, and operational strategies.Empirical validation through a residential renovation case study demonstrates a 28.6% reduction in total life-cycle carbon emissions, a 19.4% decrease in material waste, and 12.7% cost savings compared to conventional approaches. The framework offers a scientifically validated pathway for lowcarbon transformation in interior decoration, supporting architectural decarbonisation and policy compliance.
