Develops a smart learning environment for teaching production measurement technology, suggesting enhanced educational outcomes.
The training and further education of qualified professionals in production measurement technology is a challenge due to the diversity of professional and qualification backgrounds. In addition, trainers will have the task of integrating the Geometrical Product Specification (ISO GPS) system into training programs in the coming years. The ISO GPS system defines the rules for function-oriented specification and verification. The task of the verification is to provide proof of the function of the workpiece. On the one hand, trainees have to learn about production measurement technology, including suitable measurement methods, conditions, and evaluation strategies. On the other hand, they also have to understand the design, construction and thus the function-oriented description of the components. As part of a research project, a new innovative training concept for the verification will be developed that conveys relevant learning content in a form tailored to the target group. A smart learning environment is used for this purpose. Here, learning scenarios are made available virtually and interactively. As well as handling measuring instruments, the smart learning environment covers designing and annotating CAD models, reading and interpreting technical drawings, handling measuring and testing equipment, and test planning. Content on production measurement technology is made available at various levels of difficulty for different target groups, such as trainers and trainees, in a needs-oriented manner, independent of time and location. The learning experience is supported by gamification elements and a comprehensive knowledge base. This paper presents the concept of the smart learning environment, including the virtual elements.
