Exploration of role playing theory enhances cultural engagement and participation in exhibitions.
From the perspective of social psychology, the application logic and practical path of role playing theory in the design of experiential exhibitions are reasonable and necessary. By enhancing the visitors' identity immersion and emotional resonance, it can transform the visitors from traditional onlookers to narrative participants, narrowing the psychological distance between them and the exhibition content, thereby deepening their participation and cultural identification. In specific design, following the advanced steps of planning and implementation such as identity immersion of character roles, embodied engagement in situational spaces, overlapping and deepening of emotional resonance, and interactive integration of personal meanings, the correlation logic and organic linkage of “objects-people-space” in the exhibition context are constructed, achieving a deep exhibition experience for the visitors. Role playing theory not only provides theoretical and practical references for the innovative design of experiential exhibitions, but also optimizes existing exhibition resources through its low-cost structural design, thereby avoiding the tendency of excessive reliance on digital technology leading to entertainment-oriented tendencies.
